Hi, Studentens! And of course: dear parents and dear teachers! Hello, everybody! 🙂

You are invited to participate in the European Wilderness Society’s “Wild Rap Video Contest”, celebrating your connection to wilderness and nature in the form of music and rhythm. Contest entries will be judged by a panel of experts including me, a Canadian wilderness rapper. All qualified entries will be featured on the European Wilderness Society website.

That’s me: BABA BRINKMAN

I am an award-winning New Yorker rap artist, playwright and the creator of a highly original series of hip-hop albums – “Rap Guides” – full of music exploring science, religion, literature, medicine, human psychology and the natural world. Called “astonishing and brilliant” by the New York Times, I am currently performing my latest “Rap Guide to Climate Chaos” off-Broadway in New York, bringing awareness of environmental issues to a hip young audience through the beats and rhymes of hip-hop.

Rap guide to wilderness

My nature-inspired hip-hop album “The Rap Guide to Wilderness”, released in 2014, explores humanity’s relationship with the natural world and the many other species that share this planet with us. The album weaves themes of biodiversity, conservation, extinction, redemption, urban and wild spaces, all with a beat you can dance to.

Nature magazine calls it “lively and surprisingly sophisticated” while Technician Online calls it “incredibly funny and relentlessly honest”. Learn more about the album online here.
